Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo insists that Neymar has fully recovered from his foot injury, despite reports that the problem has not fully healed.
Neymar joined the French giants for a world record fee of £200m in 2017 but is looking to leave the Parc des Princes, with Real Madrid and former club Barcelona interested in bringing the Brazilian back to Spain.
Although both clubs are believed to be in negotiations over the player, reports in France have claimed that there are standing concerns over the player’s fitness, with the forward’s time in the French capital blighted by a recurring issue in his right foot.
He missed a large portion of his first season in Paris after fracturing his fifth metatarsal during a Ligue 1 game against Marseille in February 2018.
He broke the same bone the following campaign and was forced to spend four months on the sidelines, missing several important games.
Although the player was believed to have recovered from that particular issue, Le Parisien (via AS ) has suggested that the forward has not fully recovered from the problem.
Doctors consulted by the publication have reportedly warned that the 27-year-old’s foot is too thin and that he could re-aggravate the issue.
However, PSG Sporting Director Leonardo has denied those suggestions and has insisted that Neymar’s foot has completely healed.
Speaking to French radio station RMC on Thursday, he said: “It’s simple. The medical team and the best surgeons in the world were looking after Neymar from the start of the season.
“The fracture to the fifth metatarsal has healed. Neymar’s injury is completely fixed.”
Leonardo also insisted that the forward has not been banished from the club’s first team duties and still remains part of Thomas Tuchel’s plans.
Neymar was absent from that game and has not been in first-team training as he continues his recovery from the ankle injury that ruled him out of Brazil’s Copa America triumph – which has led to suggestions that he is no longer wanted among the squad.

“He is following a personalised rehabilitation program. He is a Paris-Saint-Germain player, there are still three years left on his contract in Paris, we must not forget that.
“We must analyse everything, we must fix everything before he can play again.
